Mr. McKinnie earned his B.A. in Journalism from California State University of Northridge, and following graduation he accepted a position as a news associate at KCBS Television News in Los Angeles. After receiving awards from the Los Angeles Society of Professional Journalists and the Freedom Forum Foundation (Chips Quinn Scholar), Mr. McKinnie moved to Boise, Idaho where he worked as a news reporter for the Idaho Statesman.

His work as a cops and courts reporter greatly influenced his decision to pursue a career in law. At the University of Idaho College of Law, Mr. McKinnie achieved academic success and was a member of variety of student organization, including the Moot Court Trial Team.

After completing an internship and a semester in practice at the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office in Boise, Mr. McKinnie accepted a position as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney with the Canyon County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, where he handled misdemeanors and Felonies.

McKinnie is currently licensed to practice law in all courts of the State of Idaho and the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho.
